nothing to do...

It feels so good to be able to sleep for hours and hours and hours again! Haha.

These are my compiled transcriptions and handouts. It amazes me how I've been able to cram all these things plus the stuff I've read from my books into my brain... only to forget them afterwards. Most of my knowledge on anatomy and physiology is... somewhere over the rainbow. Hehe. It's definitely much easier to retain procedural information. But I'm so happy because I was able to pull my grades up and maintain my scholarship (which sponsors my whims and caffeine supply). Thanks to HD 201 (Human Ontogeny and Parturition) which has been my best subject this semester. But no, I haven't any plans of becoming an OB-GYN. Oh, the horror...

Yesterday, I joined a CHW training activity sponsored by AKAP in Pasay. The terrible part was getting squeezed inside a jam-packed LRT coach (I almost got ripped by the door into two) and walking at high noon. But I had fun while interacting with the CHWs because they were so nice and cooperative. We taught them how to take blood pressure and had a small group discussion with them regarding certain common viral diseases (on which I had to read about only the night before because I don't really know much about these things yet). It was the perfect opportunity for their misconceptions on these illnesses to be raised and clarified (e.g., "Bawal maligo kapag may bulutong o tigdas"). These CHW trainees are being taught how to handle the problems of their community, and they shall be graduating by the end of April. I'm glad to have shared some of my time with them.

for kids only?

Last December 17, Spongebob Squarepants and the rest of his Bikini Bottom pals celebrated their first Christmas ever... at Robinsons Place. It was, I think, supposed to be for kids only. But Monette (my dear studybuddy) and I had planned to watch this event since I found out all about it so even though all we saw were little kids with their parents falling in line (and a very long line it was that some weren't able to get in), we waited until it was our turn to enter. One of the Nickelodeon personnel thought we were "ates" of some kid who was watching so he didn't bother asking us why we were there. Ye'y! So there we were in what looked like a giant playpen before the stage, sitting on the floor with all the other kids and waiting eagerly for Spongebob, Patrick, and Squidward to come out. And the best part was, my studybuddy and I were... NOT STUDYING!!! Haha.

at natuwa ako dito:

Tears To Shed
(from "Corpse Bride")

Oh those girls are ten a plenty
Youíve got so much more
Youíve got, youíve got
Youíve got a wonderful personality!
What does that wispy little brat have that you donít have double?
She canít hold a candle to the beauty of your smile.

How about a pulse?

Overrated by a mile!
If he only knew the you that we know!

And that silly little creature isnít wearing his ring!
And she doesnít play piano,
Or dance
Or sing
No she doesnít compare

But she still breathes air!

Who cares?
If only he could see how special you can be
If he only knew the you that we know!

If I touch a burning candle I can feel no pain
If you cut me with a knife it's still the same
And I know her heart is beating and I know that I am dead
Yet the pain here that I feel, try and tell me it's not real
And it seems that I still have a tear to shed

The sole redeeming feature from that little creature is that sheís alive
Everybody knows that thatís just a temporary state
Which is cured very quickly when we meet our fate
Who cares?
If only he could see how special you can be
If he only knew the you that we know!

If I touch a burning candle I can feel no pain
In the ice or in the sun its all the same
Yet I feel my heart is aching
Though it doesnít beat it's breaking
And the pain here that I feel
Try and tell me it's not real
I know that I am dead
Yet it seems that I still have some tears to shed

where is the lesion?

that is the burning question...

first sem recap? hmmm... first and foremost, i have never listened to a single lecture for more than 10 minutes. attention span problem (i often find myself just looking around, talking to my seatmates, highlighting my transcriptions in 2 colors, tinkering with my phone or pda, etc.) hehe. i prefer reading our transcriptions (or our books if i still have the luxury of time, which i often don't) over listening to draaaaagginnnnng lectures. buti na lang nakatakas ako sa mga finals, but my grades are just mediocre. i would have to do better next sem to reach a gwa of 2.0. asa...

nakakatuwang subject: os 202 (integration & control). aba, medyo may effort silang 'wag i-terrorize ang succeeding batches. hinati na sa tatlo ang course. memorable kasi sila ung unang nagbigay ng major exam at ang baba ng nakuha ko so i knew right then that i must expext worse grades to come. hehe. tsaka nakakatuwa ang neurologic exam and i hope i get to do it right sa osce. sample (ya, wala akong magawa kaya napagtripan ko ang poring):
